These last two weeks have been the most adventurous, thrilling, adrenaline-filled, near-death, and tragically beautiful moments of my life. Here are the things I've done for the curious.

I outran an army of police on an old Suzuki DR-Z400, the open road of freedom on the horizon and particular prison time desperately in pursuit. No fucks given, a blur of speed.

My hand hovered over a Colt .45, sitting snug in my waist. Ahead of me, an evil sheriff, the man in black. A duel in the sun. It was hot that day, but the sun promised and delivered to have my back.

Have you ever outran hungry coyotes? Yeah, I did that too.

I didn't do any of those things in reality; I wish I did, but no, I wrote them in draft 6 of the Exaggerated Tale of Pearl Hart, the Lady Bandit! I've arrived with open arms and a broken spirit to the story I've been trying to tell for almost a month, a year. It still needs finessing to reach the final product, but the molding process is finished, and the sculpting knife is sharpened and ready to carve out the details.

The old brain whispered something as I pressed "save as PDF," something I hadn't heard in quite a while:

"I think I'm good at this."

"Good at what?"

"Storytelling."

It's important to note that "I think" is not "I know." That answer will come with time.
